You may have read our previous article about how, at the height of the pandemic in the UK, Pure O2 supported the NHS by helping supply extra oxygen concentrators to meet rising demand. Or maybe you have read that using oxygen from Pure O2 can help with the recovery from ‘Long Covid’.  However what you might not realise is that Pure O2 is also helping with oxygen supply well beyond our national borders with international deliveries.  It has been discussed repeatedly in the media that we are not over this pandemic until it is under control worldwide.  Whilst the figures in the UK are reassuringly low at the moment, there is still the threat to destabilise this progress due to the so called ‘Indian Variant’.  The team at Pure O2 has been working around the clock to not only keep all our UK customers supplied with oxygen concentrators, but also to support the ever increasing demand for oxygen in India.

Which oxygen concentrators have we been sending to India?

As you will probably be aware, Pure O2 supplies a wide range of both portable and stationary oxygen concentrators.  Each unit has its own advantages depending on the individual requirements which is why we always like to chat to our customers or their carers first to understand the user’s particular needs.  However at times of crisis where hundreds or thousands of people are likely to be using the oxygen concentrator, the main requirements are that the unit is robust, has low maintenance and will last a long time.  So the unit we selected to send to India was the Everflo oxygen concentrator manufactured by Philips Respironics.

Why the Everflo Oxygen Concentrator?

The Everflo is a lightweight medical stationary oxygen concentrator so it suitable for use at home or in hospitals.  Given we needed to get these oxygen concentrators to the doctors and hospitals in India as fast as possible, it was important we chose a lightweight unit that could be flown the long distance.  The Everflo is lightweight and easily transportable as it only weighs 31lbs, so 10 units equates to just over 6 suitcases by weight allowances on a typical flight to India.  The compact and ergonomic design also takes up less space than other oxygen concentrators which is a key factor when calculating hold space on an aircraft.

Hospitals can be noisy places especially at times of crisis when wards are full to bursting.  Doctors and nurses are rushing back and forth to help as many patients as possible.  The last thing you need to add to this is a noisy whirring oxygen concentrator.  The Everflo is extremely quiet so even when there are multiple units all working on one ward the patients and staff would barely notice them audibly amongst the hubbub of the ward.
