Over the last few months many of us have reverted to our original way of life and methods of working pre-Covid 19 and the enforced lockdowns. However, for others Covid continues to dominate their lives long after the initial illness. This is often referred to as Long Covid or by clinicians as Post Covid Syndrome. There are many symptoms of Long Covid and they can be experienced by a variety of different people from young to old, vulnerable to fit and those who barely suffered during the initial illness to those who were hospitalised. One common factor of Long Covid can be breathlessness. Pure O2 have supported many people suffering with Long Covid over the last couple of years by providing portable oxygen concentrators to facilitate breathing and help increase oxygen into the blood stream therefore helping with energy levels.
Apart from supplying portable oxygen concentrators to help those suffering with breathlessness associated with Long Covid, we have a dedicated page on our website with links to support your recovery from Long Covid. On the Pure O2 Long Covid web page you can find out more about the symptoms of this debilitating disease, some of the treatments and tests available and other discussions about the impact of Long Covid on people’s lives. Our friendly team of advisers can help you to find the right portable oxygen concentrator for you. This will help alleviate your breathlessness and give you confidence to get out and about and begin to live your life again. Using portable oxygen really can be life changing.
The NHS has identified that symptoms of Long Covid are variable depending on the individual;
“Symptoms are wide-ranging and fluctuating, and can include breathlessness, chronic fatigue, “brain fog”, anxiety and stress”
A clinician would consider that a patient may be suffering from Long Covid if they have ongoing signs and symptoms of Covid 19 for a period of four to twelve weeks that cannot be attributed to another diagnosis. Some of the symptoms that have been experienced, apart from breathlessness and those listed above include joint or muscle pain, changes to your sense of smell or taste, a persistent cough, heart palpitations, difficulty sleeping, tightness in the chest, nausea and vomiting, a high temperature, changes to skin and hair and many more.
Those patients suffering with Long Covid, in particular with issues relating to breathlessness and fatigue, have reported a significant improvement in the way they feel and their energy levels since using a portable oxygen concentrator.
