AnyO₂® is our development-stage platform designed to make more of the oxygen journey visible — from the oxygen source and delivery pathway to the patient, the application and, ultimately, the care team.

Working prototypes, connected Android applications and cloud-based prototype AI interpretation already form a functioning development system. We are now preparing the clinical, regulatory and commercial programme needed to take that foundation further.

WHY THIS MATTERS

Home oxygen is prescribed to a person — not to a machine.

Respiratory care does not stop when a patient leaves hospital. Yet much of what happens between an oxygen source and the person using it can remain unseen.

A concentrator may show that it has been operating. That does not always reveal whether tubing has separated, whether a nasal cannula has moved, whether the patient appears to be using the therapy, or whether an important pattern has changed.

During a visit within the home oxygen industry, PureO₂ encountered equipment returned following a mixture of equipment faults, delivery-system problems and patient-use incidents. The experience exposed a simple but important question:

WHO IS WATCHING THE COMPLETE JOURNEY? From the oxygen source, through the tubing and cannula, to the patient who depends on it?

That question became the starting point for AnyO₂. We believe better visibility can lead to better support, clearer evidence and greater confidence for patients, families and care teams.

WHAT WE HAVE ALREADY BUILT

From an idea to a working connected system.

PureO₂ has moved beyond the concept stage. We have developed working matchbox-sized AnyO₂ prototypes and connected Android applications that display real data from the system.

The compact inline device can be positioned close to the oxygen concentrator or near the patient within the nasal-cannula pathway. It communicates directly with the application by Bluetooth and connects independently by Wi-Fi to the cloud, where prototype AI interprets captured signals and returns meaningful information to the application.

During development, the working system has demonstrated the ability to:

  • indicate when a breath-associated signal consistent with connected oxygen use appears to be present;
  • record detected daily oxygen use and compare it with the patient’s prescribed hours;
  • calculate and display adherence as time and percentage;
  • detect oxygen interruption, disconnection and cannula-removal events;
  • provide an audible alarm and visual warning light on the device, together with visual warnings in the application;
  • distinguish selected nasal- and mouth-breathing signatures during development testing;
  • display live breathing waveforms and stored waveform history.

The complete development pathway — hardware, application, Wi-Fi cloud connection and prototype AI interpretation — is functioning today. A secure, multi-patient professional portal for homecare and clinical teams forms part of the next phase.

PRACTICAL DEVELOPMENT TESTING

AnyO₂ has been demonstrated with a small group of oxygen users during informal development work. The system has produced usable signal data with continuous-flow concentrators, pulse-dose equipment, oxygen cylinders and setups using humidifier bottles. Most early demonstrations took place during the day, while the PureO₂ team has also completed overnight development testing.

The initial commercial focus remains continuous-flow home oxygen, where long-duration and overnight use make delivery, connection and adherence visibility especially important. Formal compatibility testing and independently governed clinical validation are still required.

WHAT MAKES THIS DIFFERENT

The machine is only the beginning.

Many connected systems focus on equipment status or running hours. AnyO₂ is being developed to observe more of the complete therapy journey.

It asks a wider set of questions:

  • Is an expected oxygen-delivery signal present?
  • Does the delivery pathway appear to remain connected?
  • Does the patient appear connected and using oxygen?
  • How much of the prescribed daily therapy appears to have been used?
  • Has an interruption or cannula-removal event occurred?
  • Are selected breathing-pattern signatures changing over time?
NOT JUST MACHINE DATA. Connected understanding from the oxygen source to the patient — and, in the next phase, to the professionals supporting them.

This is where we believe the next stage of oxygen care begins: not simply with connected equipment, but with a clearer understanding of whether therapy appears to be reaching and being used by the person for whom it was prescribed.

The foundation is working. The next phase is about proving it, refining it and preparing it for patients.

PureO₂ is now preparing the next clinical and commercial phase of AnyO₂. The priority is to bring together the right investment, clinical expertise, technology partners and manufacturing capability to accelerate seven connected workstreams:

  • develop the next-generation AnyO₂ device;
  • create a secure professional portal for hospitals and home oxygen providers;
  • complete formal engineering verification and compatibility testing;
  • run independently governed clinical studies and validation work;
  • train and evaluate the AI further using supervised clinical data;
  • complete the required quality, regulatory and compliance programme;
  • prepare the product for scalable manufacture and patient-ready deployment.

THE BIGGER VISION

From fixed oxygen settings to more intelligent respiratory support.

Today, many people receive oxygen at fixed settings with limited visibility of how the therapy is being used or how their needs may be changing. We believe the future will be more connected, more personalised and more responsive.

Subject to clinical evidence and regulatory approval, future AnyO₂ research could explore:

  • AI that learns an individual patient’s normal oxygen-use and breathing-pattern baseline;
  • the combination of AnyO₂ data with compatible physiological information such as oxygen saturation, pulse, activity and sleep;
  • whether meaningful changes could help support earlier clinical attention for respiratory deterioration;
  • clinician-governed oxygen support that adjusts in fine increments according to changing physiology rather than relying only on a fixed setting;
  • greater confidence, personalisation and mobility for people living with serious respiratory disease.

Our most ambitious research horizon goes further: could the sensing, interpretation and adaptive-control intelligence developed through AnyO₂ one day contribute to future systems that support essential respiratory functions when severely damaged lungs can no longer meet the body’s needs alone?

That is not a current product claim. It is a long-term scientific direction — and a reason to begin building the required intelligence responsibly today.
